There once was a man that had everything. He was beyond handsome. He was stronger than most. He had near endless cash. His health was suburb, to the point his doctor would joke about how he never aged. This man seemingly was perfect. The only thing is, this man was evil. The man had no morals to speak of.
One day, he met a beautiful woman. One, he thought, was nearly as beautiful as himself. As with all things in this man's life, he sought to take what he wanted. He pursued the woman. He dazzled her with gifts, affection, and his snake-like charm. It was not long after that, the woman decided that he was the person for her.
Now that she belonged to him, she was thought of as property. He soon stopped caring about her needs or wants. He started to treat her poorly, even to the point of abuse. She was simply something he owned, and he expected to do as he wished. She was trapped. Regardless of that fact, the Woman couldn't help but continue to love the Man. She did all she could to support him.
One day, after a rather severe beating, the Man decided he would make things all better by buying the woman a dog. The issue is, the Man despised dogs. This was the only act of kindness the Man had done for the Woman in so long, she was so thrilled and happy.
As it so often seems, the person that hated the dog, in this case the man, was the prime target of the dog's affection. It would follow the dog around their farm helplessly, as though it's existence evolved around the man. The man would start to torcher the poor dog. First a kick here or there, then more severe like a poke in the eye with a stick. One day when the woman was gone, the man gouged out one of the eyes of the dog. The woman, upset, asked what happened. The man stated the stupid mut got his head stuck in a barbed-wire fence. The Woman believed the man, she always did. The Man would go on to break all of the dogs legs, break one of it's ribs, take the other eye, and eventually the poor dog felt the release of death. All the while, the dog continued to love the man. All the while the woman continued to love and believe the man.
The woman did not realize that she was not the man's first wife. He was actually married many times before. He used his good looks and charm to win over women of means. He would then kill his wife in an "accident" after he tired of their existence in his world or they would get wise to the monster he was. After the end of a rather heated argument, the man lashed out and knocked the woman down the stairs. This resulted in her neck breaking. He buried her body and collected the life insurance and her property. He attended the funeral as though nothing was wrong.
A preacher came to the home the next day to offer comfort to the man for his loss. He taught the word of God. The man did not wish to hear the preacher, but he was insistant. The preacher started to realize that the wife's death may have not been an accident, so he started to confront the man. He begged the man to confess his sins. He just wished to save the man's soul, and he would not turn him into the police. The man pretended to go along with it, but when they closed their eyes in prayer, the man stabbed the preacher quickly in the throat with a pen. He proceeded to stab him time after time. The preacher eventually drown from his own blood.
Time went on, and the Man thought he once again was able to take what he wanted. Until one night, he saw a woman appear before him. It was his wife. She told the man that she was never a Woman at all. She was a heavenly spirt. She believed that the man had good in him, and spent her time on earth trying to show the man love. This was the first time he refused salvation. The man laughed, as he thought it was just a dream.
The next night the dog came to the Man. He stated he was the spirt of God's creatures. He was a loyal and faithful friend to the man during his time on earth. He had stood by his side, no matter what the Man did. This was the second time that the man refused forgiveness. The man, a little shaken, just laughed it off.
The night after the spirt of the Preacher appeared. He stated that he was the final person to offer the man salvation. He was the spirt of atonement. Yet the man denied salvation a 3rd time despite every effort to save his soul. His soul shall not be saved. The spirt advised that he would have one final visitor, but not for awhile. First he would suffer in life, as he made those around him suffer. The man was scared, but he refused to admit that to himself. He decided that it made more sense that he just needed to quit drinking.
The next day, as the Man worked on the farm, he tripped and fell perfectly on a rake that was left out. He ended up losing both of his eyes. He thought this was just a coincidence. The following day after he left the hospital, the steps he pushed his wife down broke, sending him down them. He ended up breaking both of his legs. No one was there to get him and he went without food or water for 3 days until the farm hand happened upon him. Rats had started eating at him at this point. He ended up losing both of his legs as a result. After weeks of recovery, the man returned home. That very same day a family heirloom, a sword, fell off the wall and landed right on his spine. At this point, the man was blind, and now lost all function do to the sword paralyzing his body. All he could do was feel pain and speak.
That night at the hospital, the faithful visitor that was fortold to be coming did come. The voice was powerful, and struck fear instantly into the man. The man asked if he was there to kill him. The spirt said he most certainly was, but he was going to live a very very long time. The man asked if he was God himself, sent to punish him for his sins. The spirt started to laugh deeply, and replied he most certainly was not God. In fact, he was the farthest thing from heaven. The man knew then it was only possible for it to be one spirt before him. He stated he sought God's forgiveness and that he would have salvation. The spirt started to laugh, and stated even if he sincerely meant that, it was too late. 3 times he denied salivation and now salvation would be denied to him.
One should never take for granted the gifts that they are given. The tried and true saying "do onto others, as you wish done onto you" may also come to mind. The Man truly reaped what he had sewed. If all of your evil acts were done onto you, would you be in worse shape than the Man? It is never too late to start trying to be a better person. You never know when your 3rd strike is up and it is too late for forgiveness.
Thank you for joining me tonight and allowing me to share my tell of dread. Sleep well, if you can, and I look forward to our time together tomorrow night.
